Your trusted sources, inside Claude and ChatGPT
The Toopost MCP server is a remote Model Context Protocol server that lets any MCP client search, read and ask the sources you follow, with full text, dates and citations, instead of guessing from a web search. It can also follow a source and save a post.

Local MCP server for coding agents (Pro or Maxi)
The toopost CLI runs its own MCP server on stdin/stdout: npx toopost mcp. It signs in with a link and a code (the agent calls toopost_login and shows them to you), so it works in Claude Code, Cursor and Codex without OAuth support in the client.
Claude Code
Register the local server for all your projects.
claude mcp add toopost -- npx -y toopost mcpClaude Code, Cursor and Codex in one project
Writes a Toopost skill, a Cursor rule and an AGENTS.md section, and adds the server to .mcp.json and .cursor/mcp.json.
npx toopost skills --mcpCodex
Add to ~/.codex/config.toml.

- What is the Toopost MCP server?
- A remote Model Context Protocol server at https://mcp.toopost.us that connects an AI client to your Toopost inbox with nine tools: search, ask (AI answers with citations), list_feed, get_document, list_sources, list_saved and list_alerts read it; follow_source and save_document follow a source and save a post. It uses streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.1 with PKCE.
- Which clients work with it?
- Any MCP client that supports remote servers over streamable HTTP: Claude (web and desktop), ChatGPT connectors, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and custom agents built with the MCP SDKs.
- Which plan do I need?
- Connecting AI agents through MCP requires the Maxi plan ($15 a month or $150 a year). Every account starts on Free; upgrade in the app under Plans.
- Can the agent add sources or publish?
- It can follow a source (follow_source) and save a post (save_document). It cannot unfollow, edit posts, publish or change your account. To unfollow sources from an agent, use the toopost CLI or the REST API with a scoped token.
- Is there an MCP server for Pro?
- Yes, a local one. The toopost CLI runs an MCP server on your machine (npx toopost mcp) for Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. It needs Pro or Maxi, like the CLI. Add it with claude mcp add toopost -- npx -y toopost mcp, or run npx toopost skills --mcp in a project.
- How do I revoke access?
- Disconnect the client in its own settings and revoke the token in Toopost under Connections → AI agents. Disconnecting does not delete copies the AI provider already holds; see the privacy policy.
Prefer a terminal? See the toopost CLI. Building your own integration? See the REST API.
